- Continuity: During the hot chocolate scene, Hero Girl takes her first cup and hides it under her seat to save for the boy in the next car. The seats are shown to be narrow, yet in an overhead shot of the rear of her seat, the cup is no longer seen on the floor. It has returned when she reaches under her seat later.
- Continuity: The number of carriages on the polar express changes from four (most of the time) to eight (when crossing the bridge into the north pole).
