- Paul Thomas Anderson approached 'Reynolds, Burt' many times trying to convince him to take the role of Jack Horner, but was turned down. Eventually, Reynolds took the role but he hated the movie, considered his performance awful, thought it was the worst role of his career, and was so convinced that "Boogie Nights" would be a disaster that he publicly spoke against it and disowned it. When he saw the final product, he changed his mind.
- The opening scene is three minutes long, taken in a single camera shot, beginning in the street where the Jack Horner and Amber Waves drive up and following them as they get out of the car and walk into a night club. Most of the characters in the movie are introduced in this shot.
